💚 How to Care for Your Crochet Treasures (So They Stay Lovely!)

Your frog loopy crochet creations are made with love, loop by loop 🧦—and with a little TLC, they’ll stay just as cute, cozy, and charming for years to come. Whether it’s a capybara buddy, a puff flower keychain, or your new favourite crochet pouch, here’s how to give them the care they deserve.

🧼 Cleaning Your Crochet Goodies

Not all crochet items are made the same, so here’s how to care for them differently!

For plushies & amigurumi (stuffed with cotton filling):

These are not suitable for hand-washing or machine-washing. Instead:

  • Use a lint roller to gently remove dust or hair.

  • If needed, spray lightly with fabric-safe sanitizer, then quickly blow dry using a cold air hairdryer.

Pro tip: Never soak amigurumi in water as it may distort shape and ruin the stuffing!

For non-filled crochet items (e.g., coasters, pet collars, pouches, bags):

These can be hand-washed safely!

  1. Fill a basin with cool/lukewarm water + mild detergent.

  2. Swish gently. (no scrubbing or wringing!)

  3. Rinse thoroughly.

  4. Press between a towel to absorb excess water.

  5. Lay flat to dry – reshaping as needed.

Pro tip: Always dry flat. Hanging may cause stretching or warping.

❌ Machine-Wash? Machine-No (Sometimes Yes!)

NEVER machine wash any crochet plushies or amigurumi with cotton stuffing.

But for crochet items without filling (like grocery bags, coasters, or kitchen cloths):

  1. Place in a laundry bag to protect stitches.

  2. Use a gentle cycle with cold water.

  3. Lay flat to dry after washing.

🧺 How to Store & Display Your Crochet Items

For plushies and character pieces:

  • Keep them on open shelves, or in display cabinets/glass cases.

  • Use a lint roller every now and then to keep them dust-free.

For other items:

  • Store in a cool, dry place, away from sunlight.

  • Keep away from sharp or rough items to prevent snags.

  • Don’t stack heavy things on top—give them space to stay cute!

💬 FAQ: Crochet Care Edition

Q: Can I iron my crochet piece if it’s wrinkled?
A: No ironing! You can lightly steam from a distance—but test a small spot first.

Q: What if my plushie gets dusty?
A: Use a soft brush or lint roller to gently remove surface dust.

Q: I spilled something! Help!
A: Immediately blot with a wet tissue and hold it there for 2–3 minutes to absorb the spill. Follow with a dry cloth or cold air blow dryer. If needed, repeat until dry. Still, the best tip? Keep your crochet treasures away from drinks and messes!
